Elijah's Dip
How an amazing prophet of God got out of the cave
You know the story.
Elijah. The prophets of Baal. God shows up amazingly, and Elijah comes out victorious.
But then, discouragement and defeat set in. Elijah’s main complaint? He’s the only one.
Elijah was in a dip of epic proportions. He was ready to be done. He ends up in a cave where God visits him and gives him his next steps.
What does God tell him?
God lets Elijah know that He has protected 7000 people who were still true to Him.
If I’m writing the story, God then sends Elijah to gather the 7000 and storm the palace!
But God doesn’t do that. He gives Elijah just 3 specific people and a specific task to accomplish with each of them.1
If we are in a dip, looking for encouragement, we may be expecting God to give us a huge crowd.
He may just give us three people.
He may just give you one person.
Will we obey what He is asking us to do for that one person? Or will we stay in our cave?
